Two weeks ago was my first Seedcamp Week as a fully-fledged member of the Seedcamp team. Despite the cold weather I was really looking forward to spending three days in Berlin with twenty new startups across Seedprep, Investor Day and Mentor Day. It was strange being back in Germany's startup capital, but not going into the SoundCloud office or seeing any of my old colleagues. Nonetheless, I had an amazing time. And to top it all off was having the opportunity to host a Fireside Chat with Fred Wilson in front of the gathered audience of over 100 investors, founders and mentors.
As you'll see from the intro, it was a special moment for me. Fred led Union Square Ventures' early investment in SoundCloud and has been a huge inspiration for me over the years. Whilst many of my peers were consuming music blogs, I found myself equally drawn to tech and VC blogs. In all this time, I think Fred's is the only one out there that I've consumed religiously. I've probably read just about every single post on AVC since 2007 and still go back to many of them for reference. So to kick off our fireside chat, my first question had to be about how he does it. How does he show up every day? How does he consistently write and engage with an audience, whilst still maintaining everything else he does?
You'll have to watch the video to hear the answer, but as I listened to his answer on stage I made a resolution to blog a heck of a lot more in 2015 than I did in 2014.
